  1. Glen Rose Woodcarving Rally & Show - Carving Classes

    November 13, 2018, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM @ Oakdale Park

    We would like to invite you to the City of Glen Rose Fall Woodcarving Rally & Show in Glen Rose, Texas scheduled for 11/12 through 11/17, 2018. The event will open with the “Judged Show & Sale” featuring wood carvers, wood turners, and scroll saw artists. It will be open to the public and held at Oakdale Park on Nov. 10th from 10a – 4p. & on Nov. 11th from 12p – 4p A “People’s Choice” & “Carvers’ Choice” award will be given to the individuals that receive the most votes by the end of Sunday. This year’s show is a Judged Show featuring many different categories. Ribbons for 1, 2 & 3 place will be given for each category in Judged portion. A “Best of Show” & award ribbons for Mayor’s Award, Best Table and Featured Carver. From Monday, Nov. 12th through Saturday, Nov. 17th, classes will be offered on various kinds of woodcarving and other arts. We have gathered a strong line-up of instructors that are well known in their respective specialties. We hope to see you there!

    Lorax Homeschool Class And Tour Homeschool Class + Tour: “UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not!” Discover this powerful message of natural resource conservation found in a favorite children’s book written by Dr. Seuss. In this program, students will have the opportunity to visit the Street of the Lifted Lorax and become a part of the story. This integrative program connects the story of the Lorax to an endangered Texas native, the Attwater’s prairie chicken, for which Fossil Rim has an onsite breeding program. The experience is guaranteed to get students thinking about the environment, sustainability, stewardship and their role in it all. To register, call (254) 897-2960. $23 per person
